Students Supporting Students: New Opportunities for Cross-Continental Partnerships
Hello and welcome to the VCF Fall update! This month we’ll be talking about some very exciting news regarding student partnerships.
But first, If you are new to following along with the Vulnerable Children’s Foundation (VCF), here’s the 30-second scoop: The VCF’s sole purpose for existing is supporting the Christian education taking place in the schools of the Lutheran Church of Central Africa (LCCA). The LCCA has two schools in the Zambian capital city of Lusaka. The [over 600] students in grades 1-7 are served by a faculty and staff of 20. The LCCA owns and operates the schools, but has no means to fund them at any level.
Simply put, without our fundraising, these schools would be forced to shut down and the children would lose access to the educational, physical and spiritual resources the schools offer.
That is why we celebrate BIG TIME whenever God blesses us with an opportunity to partner with a person, group or organization who wants to help us in our mission. One of our favorite types of groups to partner with are other grade schools. Why? Because that type of partnership represents so much more than just fundraising. It represents the brother-and-sister bond that Christians have with each other because of Jesus’ sacrifice - a bond that exists regardless of distance. Students in America can practice serving and loving their brothers and sisters millions of miles away by partnering with VCF in raising funds for the LCCA schools.
In past years, we’ve been honored to receive support through partnership with Lutheran High School Federations such as Fox Valley Lutheran and Wisconsin Lutheran.
And now, we invite you to rejoice with us in our newest addition to the VCF fundraising family. The Kettle Moraine Lutheran (KML) Schools will be supporting the VCF and the schools of the Lutheran Church of Central Africa with their fall semester mission offerings.
KML Schools is a partnership of sixteen elementary schools and Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School serving children in preschool through 12th grade across southeast Wisconsin. As partners, these schools work together on a preschool - 12th grade curriculum and also offer joint sports, music, and academic programs for more than 2500 students.
Throughout the fall the VCF will be sharing with the students of KML schools the story of the LCCA schools and the vital role they play in the Lord’s kingdom. It is our prayer that the 2500 students of KML Schools widely share what they learn about the VCF.
If you know of a school, district or organization who would be interested in learning more about these types of partnership opportunities, we would love to chat with them. Please have them contact us today so that we can share more information and answer any questions they may have. And - as always - we welcome individual contributions as well. Please visit our donations page to contribute virtually or learn about alternate methods of supporting our mission.
