VCF School Alumni Spotlight: Edwin Sakala

This month we have another alumni spotlight! Edwin Sakala began his time with us at the VCF Matero School campus (known to the locals as “Kuunika”). Since then, he has gone on to accomplish a great many things. We are so proud of our brother Edwin and delight in sharing his story with you all.

If you find joy in Edwins story, we ask you to prayerfully consider partnering with us in prayer and a gift of financial support. There are many more “Edwins” that we hope to send out into the world full of wisdom, health and the joy of salvation! You can learn more about how your gift will help at our donation page.

Hi!

My name is Edwin Sakala.

I enrolled at Kuunika (Matero) in 2012 as a grade five pupil, just a month after my father passed away. Despite the challenging circumstances, I was welcomed with open arms by the school and its staff. I quickly found that the teachers at Kuunika were some of the best I had ever had, and they helped me improve my grades from an average pupil to an exceptional one.

In grade 7, I had the privilege of being the class representative and school head boy in Mr. Chomba's class. I also participated in ball games and other school activities, thanks to the generosity of the lovely donors who supported Kuunika.

On my final national exams, I was thrilled to learn that I had performed the best out of all the students at Kuunika Community School. This achievement was a testament to the hard work and dedication of my teachers, the support of my classmates, and the contributions of the donors who made my education possible.

Since leaving Kuunika, I have gone on to become an accountant and registered company called Silver Supply Traders. Our business offers a range of support services to other companies, and I am proud to be a part of such a successful enterprise.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Kuunika Community School's sponsors and donors from the bottom of my heart. Without your generosity and kindness, I would not be where I am today. You have touched the lives of so many students, and I am honored to be one of them.

Please feel free to share my story with current students at Kuunika Community School. I hope that it will inspire them to work hard and pursue their dreams, no matter what challenges they may face. Thank you again for everything you do for the Kuunika community.

Edwin Sakala
