Fox Valley Lutheran – Trip
The VCF is deeply grateful for the partnership with Fox Valley Lutheran Schools, a collaboration that has resulted in tremendous financial support for the schools over the last three years. FVL sent a team of students to work in the schools in summer 2019. Mrs. Denise Schlawin led the group and reports: Eleven students and two adults traveled to Lusaka. While there, we taught an art lesson on pattern, taught the account of Noah’s Ark and helped to paint around the schools. The students enjoyed playing with the children at recess and teaching them songs in the classroom. The students from FVL raised money to buy library books for the schools. In addition, FVL Schools raised $20,000 for the school ministries to assist in the purchase of instructional materials and food, and to help pay for salaries. One student saw a presentation from two years ago about the last trip and requested to go along on this trip. He got to go, and can’t wait to go on the next trip as well! The FVL students are surprised by how few earthly possessions the Zambian students have but how content and happy they are. The students are also amazed at how fast they can become connected to someone they have only known for a few days or even a few hours. Some of the good-byes included ‘If I don’t see you again in this life, I will see you again in heaven!’
